Curatorial Assistant Internship
Location: Fondation Beyeler, Riehen near Basel, Switzerland
Employment Type: Full-time (fixed-term for two years)

About the Fondation Beyeler:
The Fondation Beyeler is one of Switzerland’s most renowned and most visited museums. Designed by architect Renzo Piano, the museum is located in an idyllic park in Riehen near Basel and is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful art spaces, harmonizing nature, architecture, and art. The Fondation Beyeler houses one of the world’s finest private collections and continuously presents high-profile exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. In keeping with its founders’ vision, the institution is particularly committed to making art accessible to a broad audience, including young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Senior Curator in all curatorial activities
- Conduct art historical research
- Write informational texts for exhibitions and the collection, as well as content for the museum’s website
- Assist with exhibition catalogues
- Process loan requests
- Compile and maintain artwork and general lists
- Maintain the database, including entering relevant contacts, lenders, and artwork details
- Handle administrative and organizational tasks, including correspondence, scheduling, and documentation
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Art History or a related field
- Strong knowledge of 19th to 21st-century art
- Previous experience in a museum or exhibition setting is an advantage
- Excellent written and spoken German, with good proficiency in English and French
- Proficiency in MS Office and database systems
- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner, even under pressure
- Strong commitment, flexibility, teamwork, and communication skills
