CURATORIAL ASSISTANT, List Visual Arts Center, to join MIT’s contemporary art museum, which collects, commissions, and presents rigorous, provocative, and artist-centric projects that engage MIT and the global art community. The List Center is pleased to offer a curatorial fellowship position for an emerging curator with a demonstrated interest in contemporary art and an advance degree in art history or a similar field. Will work with the curator, assistant curator, and other staff on several elements of contemporary curatorial practice, including exhibitions and artists research; managing checklists; conceiving, organizing, and implementing curatorial public programs; coordinating gallery text, web, and print publications; and managing digital files. In addition to contributing to the exhibition program, the fellow will work with the collections and the Institute’s active program of commissioning new public art, including artists research; handle correspondence and administrative duties; and assist with the annual Student Loan Art Program. The fellow may have the opportunity to assist with curating a small collections exhibition and contribute to catalogs.
Job Requirements
Must have a master’s degree in art history, curatorial studies, or a related field with a focus in contemporary art, or be in the final year of such a degree program with a matriculation date no later than June 2016. Job #13352-4
