The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery is seeking a motivated and imaginative TD Curatorial Fellow to join its curatorial team. This two-year fellowship (2025–2026) aims to provide emerging curators with hands-on experience in a professional gallery environment. The program is designed to nurture and foster the careers of BIPOC Canadian curators, with priority consideration given to candidates from these backgrounds. The fellow will support curatorial projects and participate in exhibition development, administration, and collaboration across various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Curator of Exhibitions and other teams to learn and contribute to curatorial activities.
- Participate in all phases of exhibition development, including research, artist relations, checklist development, installation, and public programming.
- Assist with administrative needs, including board and committee preparations and leading tours for donors and arts professionals.
- Collaborate with the Public Programs and Outreach team, Visitor Experience staff, and interns.
- Manage exhibition-related logistics such as travel arrangements, budgets, and program scheduling.
- Present yearly outcomes of the Fellowship to The Power Plant staff and contribute to the Annual Report.
Requirements:
- M.A. in art history, art criticism, museum studies, curatorial practice, or related fields.
- Knowledge of contemporary art in Canada and internationally.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral) and proven research experience.
- Experience with budget tracking.
- Proficiency in French (or other languages) is an asset.
- Computer skills (Microsoft/Apple); familiarity with web CMS, audio/photo/video editing, or SketchUp is desirable.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada (non-Canadian applicants must provide valid documentation).
