This open call invites young curators to a paid, institution-based fellowship during the 11th edition of Contour Biennale, curated by Sofia Lemos. The biennale will take place from 4 September to 1 November 2026, with artworks and installations across five locations in Mechelen, anchored at The Garage (Kunsthal Mechelen). The fellowship focuses on developing innovative public outreach and community engagement programs for diverse audiences, including schools, families, and volunteers.
Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have a background in curatorial practice, museum studies, or arts education.

They should be able to combine conceptual thinking with practical programme design.

Candidates should be enthusiastic about community engagement and building volunteer networks.

They should enjoy experimenting with formats for children, families, and multigenerational audiences.

Strong collaboration, communication, and writing skills in English and Dutch are required.
Programme Highlights

Curate and design a public outreach strategy aligned with the biennale’s curatorial vision.

Develop outreach activities for children and students, establish contact with communities, and welcome groups in the exhibition.

Develop a volunteer programme that fosters meaningful engagement and collaboration.

Plan activities that encourage interaction, learning, and bonding among families, volunteers, and the wider public.
