Position Overview
The Curatorial Fellowship offers a unique three-year opportunity to work closely with the curator and exhibitions director. The role involves researching, developing, executing, and managing exhibitions for the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. This full-time, grant-funded position starts in Spring 2024 and offers an annual salary of $40,000 with benefits.
Essential Duties
The fellow will:
- Conduct research and develop content for upcoming exhibitions.
- Assist in curating the annual In Residence exhibition showcasing resident artists’ work.
- Coordinate and install exhibitions, including layout design and art handling.
- Perform registrar duties, such as documenting objects and managing correspondence with artists.
- Engage with the public as a docent, and support educational programming.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should be:
- A creative thinker with a Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in related fields.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Able to work Tuesday to Saturday, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds.
