As part of its annual Braunschweig Projects, HBK Braunschweig is awarding one curatorial fellowship to support emerging curators with at least 3 years of experience. The programme encourages curators to develop an exhibition with the artistic fellows and realise an independent project in collaboration with a cultural institution in Lower Saxony.
Fellowship Format

Duration: 12 months, starting 1 April 2026

Monthly stipend: €1,500
-
Rent-free studio apartment in Braunschweig (utilities: €200/month)

Residency requirement: at least 8 months during term time

Exhibition budget: up to €4,000

Travel budget: €2,000
-
Participation in Welcome Weeks (20–30 April 2026) is mandatory

Arrival in the residence possible from 15 April 2026
Eligibility Criteria

Minimum 3 years of curatorial experience

No concurrent third-party funding or state scholarships allowed during the fellowship

Strong interest in collaboration with HBK’s network of students and faculty
