Location: Bengaluru, India
Financial support: Not specified in the supplied text
Fellowship dates: November 2026–March 2027
Production and installation: April–June 2027
Exhibition dates: 5 June–7 August 2027
Application deadline: 27 October 2026

Science Gallery Bengaluru invites emerging curators and curatorial collectives of Indian nationality, based in India, to apply for its inaugural QUANTUM Curatorial Fellowship. Artists, researchers and cultural practitioners with interdisciplinary practices are also eligible.

The fellowship offers an opportunity to develop a companion exhibition in response to QUANTUM, the gallery’s current exhibition season exploring measurement, observation, uncertainty, possibility and the nature of reality.

Fellowship activities

The selected fellow will develop a curatorial proposition through research and collaboration, mentored by interdisciplinary artist Moonis Ahmad Shah, whose practice spans installation, sculpture and computer programming. The mentorship will provide conceptual dialogue, feedback and discussion throughout the exhibition’s development.

The fellow will have access to QUANTUM and relevant research materials, opportunities to engage with participating artists and researchers, and support from Science Gallery Bengaluru’s curatorial and programmes teams.

Proposals should use quantum physics as a starting point for new questions and connections across disciplines. Possible directions include observation and measurement, uncertainty and probability, histories of scientific discovery, computation and information, quantum technologies, and relationships with other forms of knowledge and practice.

The fellow may draw on existing artworks, research, archives or practices and commission new work within the available budget. The companion exhibition will be presented in a designated gallery space, accompanied by a public programme.

Candidate profile

Science Gallery Bengaluru particularly welcomes practitioners who are still developing their curatorial approach and would benefit from sustained mentorship. Applicants should demonstrate previous projects or experiences that show their ability to develop ideas through research, collaboration or interdisciplinary engagement.

Proposals will be assessed for a clear curatorial proposition, meaningful engagement with QUANTUM, an interdisciplinary approach, and feasibility within the available resources and timeline.
