Introducing the Program
The NARS Foundation is excited to announce the continuation of the Curatorial Fellowship program, coinciding with the International Residency Program seasons. This innovative program, which previously took place during the 2022 Satellite Residency Season on Governors Island, will now run for six months at our Sunset Park location in Brooklyn.
Working Collaboratively
The Curatorial Fellow will collaborate closely with resident artists and NARS Staff to curate an exhibition for the NARS Galleries.
Curating Exhibitions
During the six-month fellowship, curators will curate exhibitions with each of the two cohorts of International Residency Artists. Each International Residency season lasts three months, and the exhibitions curated by the fellow will be showcased in the final month of each season.
Studio Visits and Curatorial Planning
The Curatorial Fellow will conduct studio visits with each artist-in-residence and develop a cohesive curatorial plan for the group exhibition, incorporating works from the current artists-in-residence. Fellows are expected to be present in the studio space and NARS office for a minimum of two days per week and will also be responsible for crafting press releases for each exhibition.
Diverse Collaboration
This program offers emerging curators a unique opportunity to collaborate with artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. It not only complements the well-established International Residency Program but also enriches the perspectives and experiences of both curators and residency artists.
