Overview
esea contemporary is looking for a Curatorial Intern to join the team in Manchester. This is a fixed-term, full-time position for three months, starting at the end of March or early April 2024. The intern will assist with exhibition and program-related tasks, working closely with the Curator and the Programme team.
Salary and Hours
- 18-21 years old: £1,399 per month
- Over 21: £1,859 per month
- Full-time (37.5 hours per week), including some evenings and weekends
Location and Reporting
- Based in Manchester
- Reports to the Curator
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Curator with research, planning, and execution of exhibitions and projects
- Help with installation and deinstallation of exhibitions
- Coordinate publications and digital communications for exhibitions
- Work with suppliers and subcontractors
- Organize documentation of projects
- Manage travel and accommodations for visiting artists and speakers
- Liaise with external contractors and compile information for public-facing materials
- Maintain records of artwork shipping and conditions
- Assist with event management and front desk duties
Person Specification
- Essential: Knowledge of contemporary art, strong teamwork and organizational skills, excellent communication, hands-on approach, eligibility to work in the UK
- Desirable: Knowledge of East or Southeast Asian cultures, relevant academic qualifications, experience in cultural project management, commitment to supporting underrepresented communities, familiarity with Manchester and UK cultural scenes
