Curatorial Intern, Modernism – Tate
Closing date: 08 December 2013 at midnight
This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and experience in a world class gallery environment, get involved in some of the most exciting work of its kind in Europe and earn as you learn.
The aim of Tate is to increase public awareness, understanding and enjoyment of British art from the 16th century to the present day, and of international modern and contemporary art.
You’ll carry out a variety of research and administration tasks, with a focus on supporting the presentation of the histories and legacy of art in St Ives. This will involve gathering information on artists, researching images of works and understanding the historical context of displays and using this to assist with the production of catalogues, leaflets and displays. You’ll also help create installation layouts and data files, which will help you gain valuable experience of using museum systems to plan and implement exhibitions and displays. At the end of it all, you’ll have acquired an unrivalled understanding of how our different departments work together – and extended your knowledge of modern British and international contemporary art in a Cornish context.
Flexible, enthusiastic and keen to learn, you’ll be capable of demonstrating how this opportunity will help you build a better future. Excellent communication skills, the ability to engage with people from all backgrounds and a genuine commitment to completing the whole internship will be vital.
Tate aims to attract and retain talented people from all backgrounds, and these opportunities are for people to learn and develop new skills. We particularly encourage applications from black, ethnic minority, and disabled applicants as these groups are currently underrepresented in the cultural sector
