Curatorial Internship – Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden
Location: Baden-Baden, Germany
Duration: 2 years, full-time (39.5h/week)
Salary: 50% of EG 13 TV-L (Step 1 in Year 1; Step 2 in Year 2)

The Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden is an internationally renowned institution dedicated to contemporary art. Since its founding in 1909, it has been committed to transdisciplinary and transcultural approaches, engaging with contemporary artistic practices and their societal impact.
This two-year curatorial internship offers practical training in various aspects of museum work, preparing candidates for careers in exhibition-making and museum management. Interns will gain comprehensive experience in curatorial research, exhibition organization, loan coordination, text writing, and public engagement through guided tours, film screenings, and discussions. The program includes training in museum project management and cultural mediation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the research, organization, and execution of exhibitions
- Manage loan requests and contracts for artworks
- Write exhibition texts and contribute to public programs
- Support museum education initiatives, including guided tours and events
- Participate in administrative and logistical aspects of exhibition production
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Art History, Cultural Studies, Curatorial Studies, or a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary art
- Strong research, writing, and organizational skills
- Museum or exhibition-related experience preferred
- International experience (studies or work) desirable
- Proficiency in German and English (additional languages are a plus)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and InDesign
