Hours: 35 hours/week, flexible working options available
Salary: AUD 82,981.04 per annum + 17.5% annual leave loading + 11.5% superannuation

The Curatorial Officer (Exhibitions) will join Newcastle Art Gallery’s expanding Curatorial and Exhibitions team during an exciting period of growth and renewal. Reporting to the Exhibitions Lead, this role will coordinate high-quality temporary exhibitions, new commissions, and collection-based displays. The position involves artist liaison, project administration, interpretive content development, and supporting the delivery of a dynamic artistic program with both local and international scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the delivery of exhibitions and offsite projects
  • Collaborate on interpretive materials including talks, texts, and digital content
  • Support artists and curators in realising exhibitions
  • Ensure smooth project administration and best practice delivery
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure successful program execution

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in developing and coordinating visual arts exhibitions
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Knowledge of visual art and curatorial practice
  • Ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent written and communication skills
