The Center for Book Arts invites curators to submit proposals for exhibitions in its Central Gallery. This call seeks projects that deepen the discourse of book arts through innovative, historical, or theoretical perspectives. CBA particularly values exhibitions that broaden understanding of books as art objects, emphasizing contemporary interpretations or critiques of traditional book arts.
Project Details
Selected curators will receive access to CBA’s archives, collection artworks, and administrative support. CBA also offers honoraria for public programs and a catalog, with an exhibition budget available.

- Curatorial projects that push the critical discourse of book arts.
- Exhibitions filling knowledge gaps in book arts, showcasing diverse artists.
- Cohesive exhibitions featuring multiple artists around a particular theme.
- Special focus on projects linking CBA’s history with contemporary practices for the 50th anniversary in 2024.
Application Requirements
- 1,000-word exhibition proposal detailing visual and conceptual aims.
- Proposed work list, including title, year, medium, dimensions, and thumbnail images.
- 5-10 images of proposed works (jpg format, 800px – 1200px).
