Curatorial Research Associate- African Art

VMFA is seeking a dynamic individual to join the Curatorial and Conservation team in the African art department. The successful candidate will engage in technical analysis and conservation of VMFA’s extensive African Art Collection by undertaking original, in-depth scholarly research on specific works and share findings and relevant cultural perspectives with fellow Curatorial and Conservation team members. This position will also be responsible for presenting research and findings in a variety of formats.

Minimum Qualifications
Position requires an advanced academic degree (Masters level or higher) in Art History or related field with strong emphasis in the historic arts of Africa. Experience working in a museum environment and/or administrative work gained through employment, internships, or fellowships also required as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
