The Curatorial Research Fellowships by ICI aim to advance new knowledge and practices in curation. The program supports curators in research, travel, and professional network development. It promotes experimentation, collaboration, and international engagement.
Fellowship Details
- Duration: March – October 2024
- Benefits: $10,000 financial support, mentorship, access to ICI’s international network
- Mode: Virtual mentorship sessions
- Eligibility: Open to curators worldwide
Fellowship Categories
For Curators of African Descent (Worldwide)
- Purpose: To aid curators of African descent in developing curatorial practice
- Eligibility: Curators of African descent, minimum 5 years of experience
- Languages: Applications in English, French, Spanish, or Portuguese (English proficiency required)
Indigenous Curatorial Fellowship (U.S.)
- Aim: To support U.S.-based Indigenous curators
- Eligibility: Indigenous curators in the U.S., minimum 5 years of experience
BIPOC Curatorial Fellowship (U.S.)
- Objective: To assist U.S.-based BIPOC curators
- Eligibility: BIPOC curators in the U.S., minimum 5 years of experience
Mississippi River Basin Fellowship
- Focus: On curatorial practices related to the Mississippi River Basin
- Eligibility: Curators with direct involvement in the region, minimum 5 years of experience

- Proposal Summary: One sentence (max 40 words)
- Curatorial Research Description: Goals and process (max 400 words)
- Resources/Travel Plans: (max 100 words)
- Mentorship Needs: (max 100 words)
- Relevant Artists/Curators List: (max 70 words)
- Project Relevance: To the field (max 100 words)
- Impact on Practice: (max 100 words)
- Bio: Demonstrating experience (max 250 words)

- Applicants can apply for multiple fellowships if eligible
