Curatorial Residency

NAMARA | projects Curators’ Studio is inviting proposals from independent curators interested in developing research-led curatorial projects through a collaborative residency. The programme offers the opportunity to work closely with NAMARA’s curatorial team while advancing an independent research or exhibition project in a supportive environment focused on dialogue, experimentation, and professional development.

The residency welcomes projects at different stages of development, including new research initiatives, exhibition proposals, or existing exhibitions that would benefit from curatorial support. Although proposals related to NAMARA’s areas of practice may receive priority consideration, applicants from all contemporary curatorial backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Selected residents will receive mentorship, critical feedback, professional exposure through NAMARA’s digital platforms, and letters of support for external funding or exhibition partnerships when appropriate. A fixed honorarium of CAD $2,000 is provided, and applicants may also request additional project funding to cover exhibition production, programming, publications, artist fees, or other eligible expenses.

The residency is open to curators based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Residents are expected to attend monthly meetings at the Curators’ Studio during the active residency period. Participation in monthly field trips is encouraged but optional. At the end of the residency, participants must submit a final research outcome in a mutually agreed format within 30 days of the programme’s conclusion.
