The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) invites applications for the Carol B. Grossman Curatorial Scholar position in the Department of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts. This role offers mentorship and training in curatorial practice, focusing on cataloguing, research, and collection accessibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Catalogue works in the Department’s collection, including provenance, exhibition history, and bibliographic references.
  • Contribute scholarly entries for The Met’s website.
  • Support permanent collection installations by preparing object lists and drafting labels.
  • Collaborate with the curatorial team on collection care and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile

  • MA in Art History, specializing in European Sculpture or Decorative Arts (1500–1900).
  • 0–3 years of museum-related experience.
  • Excellent written, oral, and editorial skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency; familiarity with TMS or collections management software preferred.
  • Reading and writing proficiency in German or another European language.
  • Self-directed and passionate about scholarly work.
