The Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral is characterized by reflection, artistic production, discourse and critical thinking. The scholarship program supports artists, curators and researchers by awarding scholarships and works in public through various mediation initiatives, lectures, workshops, symposia and exhibitions.
The Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral sees itself as an interface between artistic and curatorial work. Therefore, a scholarship is advertised for a curator. The scholarship holder will work in close dialogue with the artists of the program. Part of the scholarship is the organization and implementation of three group exhibitions in cooperation with the attendance fellows. It is also desirable to develop an accompanying and mediation program for the respective exhibition. Finally, as Jean Christoph Amman once said in Bad Ems: „ Contemporary art needs to be explained “. Words, like keys, can open up new ( thinking ) spaces and provide access to artistic ideas.
If a final exhibition with all scholarship holders takes place after the scholarships, it is part of the curatorial scholarship, to prepare the final exhibition in cooperation with the management of the scholarship program at Balmoral Castle and to accompany it in curatorial terms.
The scholarship is awarded for a period of eight months and is endowed with 1,400 euros per month plus travel allowance for the journey. The scholarship cycle begins in April.
