Kunstverein Freiburg is offering a two-year curatorial traineeship (Volontariat) for emerging professionals interested in contemporary art. This position provides hands-on experience in exhibition development, public programming, and institutional management within one of Germany’s renowned art associations.

The trainee will assist in curatorial research, coordination of exhibitions, artist liaison, event organization, and communication strategies. Additionally, they will gain insight into fundraising, publication production, and audience engagement.

Requirements

A degree in art history, curatorial studies, or a related field
Strong organizational and communication skills
Interest in contemporary art and exhibition-making
Fluency in German (essential) and English (preferred)
Experience in project management or cultural institutions is an advantage
