Neuer Aachener Kunstverein (NAK), an internationally oriented institution for contemporary art, is offering an 18-month curatorial traineeship starting September 1, 2025. The role provides comprehensive professional training in curatorial and institutional work and includes involvement in all aspects of exhibition planning, production, communication, and administration.

Responsibilities

Curatorial research and exhibition development
Writing scholarly texts
Press and public relations
Exhibition organization, including installation and deinstallation
Procurement and transport coordination
Artist liaison
Fundraising and sponsorship acquisition
Print materials coordination
Office management and administration
Accounting, project budgeting, and oversight
Visitor engagement and member services
Supervision of interns and volunteers

Candidate Profile

Completed degree (Magister, Master, or Diploma) in art history, art studies, or a related field
Strong knowledge of contemporary art
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German; very good English skills; additional languages are a plus
Hands-on experience in exhibition production
Familiarity with standard software and internet tools
Highly motivated, organized, resilient, and team-oriented
