Position Overview
The Deputy Director plays a key role in the nonprofit’s growth and sustainability by leading development efforts and supporting organizational management. The role involves working closely with the Executive Director to implement the organization’s mission and strategic goals. Key responsibilities include overseeing development operations, fundraising, donor management, and organizational administration.
Position Responsibilities
Fundraising and Development
- Design and implement fundraising strategies to meet annual revenue goals.
- Cultivate relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Manage grant applications and reporting, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Organize and execute special events and fundraising campaigns.
- Analyze fundraising data to inform future strategies.
Organizational Leadership
- Assist in day-to-day management of the organization.
- Provide leadership and supervision to staff, set goals, and evaluate performance.
- Participate in strategic planning and implementation.
- Represent the organization in the community and at public events.
- Contribute to the strategic plan’s development and implementation.
Communications and Public Relations
- Develop and execute marketing plans to support fundraising and increase visibility.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of communications materials, such as newsletters and social media posts.
- Collaborate with program staff to highlight the organization’s impact and successes.
- Engage with community stakeholders to build partnerships and enhance the organization’s profile.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in nonprofit development and management.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, including major gifts and grants.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Strong project management skills, including collaboration for grant proposals.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated, team player with strong critical thinking and time management skills.
