Overview
The British Council in Mumbai is offering an opportunity to join as a Deputy Director Arts. This role is central to supporting peace and prosperity by fostering UK-India cultural connections. The successful candidate will work on mid-scale multi-year programs, mentor India’s Arts Programme Managers, and manage a diverse portfolio across digital and physical platforms.
Role Purpose
The Deputy Director Arts will lead key initiatives, including Culture Connects and Creative Economy, to create impactful arts programs. This position involves deputising for the Director Arts, managing program portfolios, and representing the British Council at significant arts events. A critical aspect of this role is to ensure a cohesive national program that adds value to UK-India cultural relations.
Main Accountabilities
Stakeholder and Team Management
- Oversee Senior Arts Managers and ensure effective program management.
- Foster a collaborative culture among partners and stakeholders, convening programme boards and working groups.
- Ensure seamless collaboration across UK and India Arts teams.
Programme Delivery
- Lead program management to ensure high-quality, impactful delivery.
- Oversee communications, branding, and impact monitoring to meet objectives.
Planning and Operations
- Support the India Arts team in project management and quality assurance.
- Lead operational decision-making and provide internal guidance for project staff.
Managing Resources, Risk, and Compliance
- Promote a compliance culture, manage budgets, and ensure programs meet funding criteria.
- Oversee child protection and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) standards.
Business Development
- Cultivate strategic partnerships and lead business development initiatives.
- Manage contract negotiations and ensure compliance with internal and client requirements.
Requirements
Minimum
- Relevant higher education qualification.
- Experience in the arts sector with knowledge of UK and India trends.
- Proven leadership in managing international programs and partnerships.
- Commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Desirable
- Business development experience and capability to work in diverse environments.
