As we embark on a new chapter of growth, the Development Manager role holds the promise of influencing our transformation as an independent institution. This position will play a crucial part in Para Site’s vision of ongoing development through its innovative program, strengthening our connections between Hong Kong and the world.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to become a part of our organization. The role involves working closely with the Deputy Director to expand our network of supporters and strategic partners. It will play a central role in our philanthropic engagement strategy, encompassing high-profile events like the Annual Gala and Fundraising Auction, the conception of new fundraising initiatives, and fostering meaningful connections with individual donors, trusts, grant-making bodies, and corporate partnerships.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Deputy Director to identify, research, and implement new fundraising opportunities, encompassing individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and foundations and government grants, both locally and internationally.
- Work closely with the Curatorial Team to identify funding and collaborative opportunities to support projects.
- Prepare grant applications and philanthropic initiatives.
- Support the Deputy Director in managing the Patron Programme and liaise with Para Site supporters, including overseeing patron events.
- Contribute to the conception and logistical coordination of high-profile fundraising and networking events such as the Annual Gala and Fundraising Auction.
- Establish and cultivate strong relationships with prospective supporters and funding bodies to ensure the continuity of long-term funding for the institution.
- Enhance donor relations by creating additional value for Para Site program offerings.
- Manage the donation process, maintain records, and track matching and project-based donations.
- Produce accurate reports for donors, stakeholders, prospective funding partners, and government and foundation grants, facilitating communications with the Para Site Board.
- Collaborate with the Deputy Director and Gallery Manager to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare fundraising materials, brochures, and contracts in line with the institution’s key messages and to a high standard.
- This is a full-time position, with occasional evening and weekend work as necessary.
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in arts, event management, or related fields.
- A minimum of 3 years of fundraising and/or event coordination experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Cantonese is essential, with additional Mandarin as a plus.
- Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills, with preferred experience in grant writing and successful proposal delivery.
- Strong negotiation skills that inspire trust through sensitivity, discretion, and tact.
- Demonstrable knowledge of public and private sector fundraising.
- A deep interest in and understanding of Hong Kong and international arts and culture.
- Motivated by sustainability issues related to non-profit institutions.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and adaptability to achieve results.
- Strong time management and task prioritization abilities.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in computer software, including iOS, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
- Familiarity with data management systems like eTapestry, Raiser’s Edge (RE), or Salesforce is a plus.
