Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum offers a versatile museum experience with its collections, comprehensive national and international temporary exhibitions it accepts, conservation and research units, exemplary educational programs, and artistic activities.

SSM, which is also a pioneer in interdisciplinary scientific studies as a university museum, focuses on digital culture and opportunities to protect the creation of this culture with its efforts and projects under the digitalSSM Archive and Research brand.

In the light of this focus, SSM has opened its collection and archives at international standards for the production of information and projects by academics, university students, researchers, museum professionals, artists and collectors.

DigitalSSM Archive and Research Manager Job Description:

  • Managing the system and all processes of the DigitalSSM Archive and Research in accordance with international standards and museology activities,
  • Developing projects and collaborations between DigitalSSM and other museum activities, especially in connection with collections, archives and exhibitions,
  • Protecting all Research resources and the rights of these resources and offering methods that will increase access to accurate information and data to benefit the target audience,
  • Continuing pioneering institutional work through national and international academic collaborations and sponsorships,
  • Ensuring that DigitalSSM becomes a sustainable reference point in its field,
  • Actively using the museum management and database systems and technologies (such as TMS, eMuseum, Contentdm etc.) used as all institutional information and information resources of SSM, having the knowledge and experience to guide the teams and ensuring the continuity of the systems,
  • Following up scientific research and technological application techniques related to artistic content management that constitutes digital cultural heritage, and organizing activities for the development of these,
  • Following up the European Union Research calls in the relevant field, cooperating with Sabancı University, other universities, culture and art institutions,
  • Managing the necessary resources (such as human, time, technological infrastructure, budget, etc.) effectively and efficiently for continuity and the development of new projects,
  • Directing the relevant teams in communication efforts for all information resources and research projects that are opened to access in a way that will increase brand awareness and image for both SSM and DigitalSSM.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably a Master’s Degree (in a field such as Culture and Art Management, etc.), graduate of Information and Document Management and / or related departments of universities,
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in archive management and digital archiving, project development, and minimum 3 years of experience in team management, including projects and 3rd parties,
  • Knowledge of international archive management standards,
  • Good computer literacy (including Google Drive Applications, Trello usage), digital culture to support both content and process management
  • Preferably experience in CONTENTdm, TMS, eMuseum systems or similar systems,
  • Very good level of English,
  • Experience in project and team management, ability to work both individually and with teams,
  • Analytical thinking and effective time management skills
  • Ability to approach projects and business processes with critical and free thinking, and focus on improving both the work and the teams,
  • Upholding information security, sharing and other related rights of all internal and external stakeholders,
  • Strong leadership skills,
  • Military service must be completed (for male candidates)

The job holder will report to the Museum Director for all processes. The job holder will also work in coordination with the relevant museum teams in line with the necessary business processes.

Place and mode of work:

Sakıp Sabancı Museum is located in Emirgan, Istanbul. This position requires mainly working in the museum due to business processes. It may also be possible to work in a hybrid way in line with project and business processes.
