New Contemporaries is seeking an exceptional candidate to join the organisation as Director to start a new chapter in its legacy and future, with a recently appointed new chair and board of trustees.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with wide ranging experience and understanding of the contemporary visual arts sector in the UK. New Contemporaries is looking for someone who can bring new perspectives and creative energy to build on our unrivalled position as the leading national organisation supporting early career artists as they transition from accredited and alternative education to professional practice.

The new Director will have proven leadership qualities, organisational flair and the ambition to work collaboratively with the Trustees, members of the team and other stakeholders to shape the organisation’s strategic vision and future direction as we approach our 75th anniversary year in 2024 and set out our ambitions for the decade ahead.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in strategic vision setting, sound financial management, fundraising and organisational development, as well as the skills and capabilities to effectively support early career artists, cultivate a supportive working culture, lead and inspire a small team of dedicated and talented people.

The selection process will be as follows:

• Short-listed candidates will be invited to attend a first interview

• Candidates selected for the next stage will be invited for a second interview.

 First interview date: Thursday May 4 and Friday May 5.

• Second interview date: Tuesday May 16 2023.
