About the Position
Bergen Kunsthall seeks an engaged, unifying, and visionary director. The goal is to strengthen the institution’s position as a leading contemporary art venue locally, nationally, and internationally. The director will foster a collaborative culture and a positive working environment through effective leadership. The role involves setting the direction and implementing a strategy to enhance Bergen Kunsthall’s status as a cultural and artistic center in the city and an international player in contemporary art.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Foster a collaborative culture and positive working environment.
- Strategy: Develop and implement a clear strategy to enhance Bergen Kunsthall’s status.
- Audience Development: Innovate visitor experiences reflecting society’s diversity.
- Networking: Build and maintain relationships in contemporary art locally and internationally.
- Curatorial Work: Demonstrate strong leadership and documented curatorial experience.
- Finance: Understand finance basics and secure funding from private and public sources.
- Team Management: Lead a competent, interdisciplinary, and creative staff.
- Communication: Represent Bergen Kunsthall effectively in Scandinavian and English languages.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership skills and curatorial experience.
- Experience in strategy and organizational development.
- Basic understanding of finance and funding acquisition.
- Motivation to represent and present Bergen Kunsthall.
- Interest in learning Scandinavian languages.
