About the Role
The Director will lead the Nantes Museum of Arts, a prominent cultural institution that showcases European art from the 13th century to the present. This role involves defining and executing the museum’s strategic, scientific, artistic, and cultural projects to enhance its identity, visitor engagement, and reputation. The Director will also manage a team of around 60 staff members, ensuring effective operations, cohesive team dynamics, and a positive working environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the museum’s overarching project, aligning with Nantes’ cultural, educational, and regional priorities.
- Oversee a dynamic exhibition program, events, and visitor engagement activities to strengthen the museum’s appeal and audience diversity.
- Manage all strategic and operational aspects, including budgeting, staffing, and external communication.
- Collaborate with local, national, and international cultural partners to position the museum within a broader cultural network.
Candidate Profile
Candidates should have:
- Advanced knowledge in art history and museum management experience.
- Strong strategic planning abilities to navigate economic, technological, and cultural shifts.
- Skills in partnership development, team leadership, and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing complex projects and international partnerships.
