Director
The Mosaic Rooms is Seeking a Director
Location: London, UK
Application deadline: 20th May 2025
About The Mosaic Rooms
Since 2009, The Mosaic Rooms has been a home for bold, imaginative creativity rooted in care, community, and connection. Based in London with a global outlook, we bring together artists, cultural workers, and communities—especially from the Arab world and its diasporas—through exhibitions, talks, workshops, and our independent bookshop.
Context
After 15 years of growth, we are now entering an exciting new chapter: becoming an independent charity. With the current Director stepping down to make space for this new phase, the Board of Trustees is now looking to appoint a new Director to lead The Mosaic Rooms into its next phase.
Role
We are seeking a strategic, visionary Director to lead the next phase of our development. This is a public-facing, leadership role focused on strengthening partnerships, organisational resilience, and sustainable growth. The Director will oversee the curatorial team’s delivery of an ambitious, multidisciplinary programme, while also ensuring the successful execution of communications, fundraising, and commercial activities across the rest of the teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating bold ideas into operational reality.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of an organisation that prioritises care, justice, and experimentation and advocates for sustainable practices. You’ll be joining a passionate team and community committed to amplifying artistic practices from the Arab world and global majority while forging new paths in cultural leadership and solidarity.
The right candidate will have:
- Significant leadership experience within the cultural and charitable sectors.
- A strong understanding of the Global South and diaspora arts and social justice landscapes.
- Experience with UK charity governance and financial management.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills and political awareness.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate funding ecosystems including Arts Council England and philanthropic networks.
- Proven ability to lead small teams, develop organisational systems and embed inclusive values.
