Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation is seeking a new director to lead the organization. Index is a center for contemporary art that presents ambitious exhibitions, events, and learning activities, featuring both commissioned contemporary work and retrospective or archival projects. The director will develop and execute the program, represent the institution nationally and internationally, and secure sustainable funding.
Responsibilities
- Conceive and execute exhibitions, events, and educational programs
- Ensure diversity, equity, and representation in programming
- Manage staff and collaborate closely with the team
- Secure long-term financing from public and private sources
- Contribute to the development of Index’ long-term strategic plan
Candidate Profile
- Strong experience in curatorial practice and long-term programming
- Proven leadership skills and collaborative approach
- Experience in budgeting, administration, and fundraising
- Familiarity with educational and cross-disciplinary projects
- Broad international network and understanding of Nordic art context
- Excellent personal suitability and communication skills
