Position Summary
Crystal Bridges is seeking a nationally recognized leader in contemporary American art (from the 1960s to present) to manage the museum’s contemporary art program. This role involves overseeing the curatorial team and working across various platforms including the museum galleries, outdoor spaces, and the Momentary—a downtown Bentonville space for contemporary art.
Primary Responsibilities
- Directing contemporary art and artist features institution-wide
- Managing the contemporary art curatorial team
- Overseeing acquisitions, exhibitions, and strategic planning in collaboration with the Chief Curator
- Developing relationships with artists, community members, and donors
- Serving as an ambassador for Crystal Bridges locally, nationally, and internationally
Additional Responsibilities
- Partnering with departments and entities for artist programs and exhibitions
- Engaging in research and scholarly activities
- Collaborating with the University of Arkansas School of Art for academic programs
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven track record in contemporary art projects
- Strong relationships with artists, collectors, and art professionals
- Excellent communication and research skills
Education and Experience
- B.A. in Art History or related field (M.A. preferred)
- At least ten years of curatorial experience
- Experience in management, artist projects, and budget handling
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License
- Passport for international travel
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in office software and equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Expertise in contemporary art interpretation and research
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong project management skills
- Commitment to teamwork and professional ethics
