Glasgow is widely recognised as the most important centre for visual art production in the UK outside of London, and the outstanding international success of the city’s artists has resulted in significant interest in the city among the international art world.

Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art (GI) is the city’s curated and commissioning festival of contemporary visual art, showing newly commissioned work and work new to Scotland. The Festival provides a unique locally and internationally respected offer to the cultural scene in Scotland, taking place over 18 days in April/May every two years.

We are looking for a dynamic and exceptional individual to support the development of this unique Festival over the next 2-3 editions (4-6 years), and in particular presenting an exhilarating and internationally respected programme of visual art in the GI Festivals in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

Please note: we are currently putting in place a funding package for the next three Festivals to 2018 and the post’s continuation is subject to the success of that funding being in place.

Salary: £40,000 p.a. depending on experience. Four days a week.
Contract: Freelance Fixed Term Oct 2012 – Oct 2016
(possible extension to 2018)
Managed by Head of Arts, Glasgow Life
Office based at Tramway
