Overview

As the Director of Arts Education and Community Engagement, you will be responsible for:

Center Education Class/Workshop Offerings

  • Leading the curatorial vision, strategy, and implementation.
  • Ensuring exceptional, experimental, and experiential approaches to artistic practice for learners of all ages.

NYCHA Arts Initiative and PATHS Program (Promoting the Arts Throughout Henry Street)

  • Coordinating these programs and their positive impact on New York City Department of Education, Henry Street Settlement programs, and other community-based partnerships.

You will collaborate with the Arts Center’s Vice President of Visual and Performing Arts and Producing Director, as well as Henry Street Settlement’s Education, Mental Health, Older Adult, Workforce, and Community Engagement teams. You will manage an Associate Director of Arts Education and Community Engagement, an Education Manager, and Education Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

Center Education Programming

  • Developing tuition-based class/workshop and private lesson offerings.
  • Cultivating meaningful relationships with learners and families.
  • Coordinating educational programming for the Center’s shows, exhibitions, and residencies.
  • Managing the hiring processes, curriculum development, and professional evaluation of teaching artists.
  • Promoting education programming.

Community Engagement Programming

  • Coordinating arts educational partnerships through the PATHS Program and StudioLab Program.
  • Collaborating with division directors and administrators to provide engaging workshops.
  • Aligning with the Marketing and Communications department for effective marketing.
  • Managing the hiring processes, curriculum development, and professional evaluation of teaching artists.
  • Developing and securing new community-based partnerships.
