Opportunity Overview
The Public Establishment of the Palais de la Porte Dorée, a significant cultural site in eastern Paris, is seeking a Director of Conservation and Exhibitions. This role involves overseeing the museum’s scientific and exhibition policies, managing a team of 16, and enhancing the collections. The museum is dedicated to the history of immigration in France and features a wide range of exhibits and events.
Responsibilities
Scientific and Conservation Policy Development:
- Define and implement conservation strategies for the National Museum of the History of Immigration.
- Approve policies for inventory, conservation, restoration, and public presentation of the museum’s cultural assets.
- Lead efforts to enrich the collections, manage acquisitions, and oversee loans.
Exhibition Programming:
- Develop and coordinate a multi-year exhibition program.
- Ensure financial, administrative, and technical sustainability for cultural events, including colloquiums, conferences, and exhibitions.
Management and Leadership:
- Supervise department heads and manage the Directorate’s overall operations.
- Prepare budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Oversee public procurement processes.
Promotion and Communication:
- Promote the institution through scientific articles, conferences, and professional meetings.
- Stay informed about trends in museum practices and cultural developments.
Technical Skills Required
- Expertise in museum conservation techniques
- Knowledge of immigration history, art history, and social sciences

Candidate Profile
