Job Description

MACBA is hiring a full-time Director of Development and Institutional Relations. This leadership role focuses on securing funding, managing sponsorships and donor networks, and building strategic partnerships with institutions and businesses, both locally and globally. The position also involves managing fundraising events, overseeing membership programs, and exploring new revenue streams like space rentals and branded products. You’ll report directly to museum leadership and manage a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and lead fundraising strategies with MACBA Foundation
Grow the museum’s network of donors, sponsors, and partners
Oversee strategic institutional relationships and visibility policies
Lead the planning of fundraising events and donor campaigns
Explore new income-generating opportunities for the museum
Monitor performance and report to museum leadership
Lead and mentor the development team

Qualifications

University degree
At least 5–10 years’ experience in fundraising, sponsorship, or business development
Strong knowledge of the cultural or artistic sector
Leadership experience managing teams
Fluent in Catalan (C1) and English (B2); Spanish (C1) for non-nationals
