Columbus College of Art & Design is seeking the leader of the Beeler Gallery, a world-class exhibition space that serves its mission as a resource to the entire community, supplementing the educational experience of the campus, the region and beyond. With programming designed to serve this mission, the Director’s role is to curate the Beeler Gallery with a focus on the gallery’s intellectual content from conception to operation to dissemination, balancing budgetary resources to deliver quality programming that engages and increases public understanding of contemporary art and design and those who create. The Director will be responsible to manage the overarching vision of gallery as it pertains to the college’s needs and must be an excellent communicator. As the Director represents the college in all appropriate exhibition venues and events, and engages local and national communities, the ideal individual is capable of working gracefully with artists, designers, visiting scholars, lending institutions, donors, students and colleagues.

In Practice:
We seek a colleague who is actively engaged in the contemporary art and design world though proven experience. The ideal candidate has demonstrable knowledge of contemporary trends in art and design and their curatorial practice, and be able to communicate confidently with artists, lending institutions, colleagues and visitors.

In Teaching:
The Beeler Gallery is considered a teaching resource and CCAD values a Director who views their role as an educator, empathetic with faculty and creative high-achieving students, and energized by working with them and others within a creative environment.

In Service:
We expect collaboration programming, engagement with constituents and contributions toward community. The successful candidate will be expected actively engage the campus and the region in dialog on matters that enhance communication, collegiality and reputation.
