SCAD Savannah seeks an experienced director of museum programming and operations to be responsible for the oversight of the SCAD Museum of Art and SCADstory.

In this full-time position, you will enhance the mission and image of SCAD Museum of Art and SCADstory by providing superior customer service to all visitors. You will manage the budget, staffing, and operations of the museum’s retail functions and admission sales, visitation reporting, shop and café operations, security, tours, and the hiring and training of docents. You will work with the museum curators and the director for the Evans Center for African American Studies to plan and execute programs that coincide with on-view exhibitions, and develop, support, and manage other exhibition-related programming virtually and on-ground at the SCAD Museum of Art. You will work with the coordinator of museum visitation to develop and execute member-oriented programming, and train the museum coordinator to ensure building usage, security, and maintenance is executed properly during weekend, evening, and special events.

As the director of museum programming and operations, you will report to the deputy director of museum operations and supervise the operations manager, coordinator of museum visitation, museum coordinator, and the manager of SCADstory. You will open and close museum galleries and cafes to ensure each space is safe and presentable, develop and implement an Emergency Preparedness Plan, and coordinate with the deputy director of exhibitions to map out installation/de-installation plans. Among other duties, you will also act as a liaison between museums and other departments and maintain organized budgets and reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Minimum of four years in an operations role with equal experience in a management position
  • Experience in museums and/or exhibitions, as well as event and program management
