Role Description
Title: Director of Programmes, Ghana and Regional TVET Lead
Purpose:
The role supports the Country Director in Ghana’s directorate management. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating country strategies and plans. This position ensures compliance with standards and policies and leads in securing partnerships and business development aligned with the British Council’s strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Manage the cultural engagement portfolio’s operations, including resource and financial aspects.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with corporate values and standards, including EDI, Child Protection, Health & Safety policies.
- Business Development: Lead the cultural engagement business development, coordinating with SBU colleagues.
- Staff Leadership: Manage and coach programme teams in line with British Council values.
- Change Management: Drive changes in processes and procedures to achieve organizational goals.
Main Deliverables
- Leadership and management in the Regional TVET sector.
- Development of Regional TVET strategies and plans.
- Management of Regional TVET stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Graduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Significant programme management experience.
Desirable:
- Financial control or programme management qualifications.
- Project management qualification.
- Experience in client-funded work (e.g., FCDO, EU, World Bank).
Skills Required
- Extensive experience in leading and managing programmes or large projects.
- Proficiency in risk management, MEL framework development, and managing diverse teams.
