The Institute of Art History and Museology (IHAM) of the University of Neuchâtel is a leader in the field of museology education, the history of collections, and museum consulting. Its master’s degree in museum studies, which offers teaching of international quality, welcomes many foreign students; it has received the ICOM label for certified training in the field of museology.

About the doctoral assistant position
The job profile requires a person with a master’s degree in modern art history (from the Renaissance to the 19th century) or in museology with a major in modern art history, or a title deemed equivalent in the one of these disciplines. Due to the nature of the research projects currently carried out on site, a specialization in the field of 17th-18th century French art, the history of collections from the modern period or the exchanges between art and science during this same period will be considered with particular interest.
Following his commitment, the incumbent will have 18 months to submit a doctoral thesis project to the decanal office of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences. It is called upon and encouraged to assume, within the framework of its activity, research work and scientific publication for its own account. Fluency in French, German and/or English is an advantage. Non-French speakers must be able to teach practical work and/or pro-seminars in French from the spring semester 2023.
