Overview:
The Schwules Museum seeks a second person for dual leadership (Co-Leadership) with Dr. Birga Meyer. The dual leadership manages daily operations and oversees economic, organizational, and personnel affairs. It also handles strategic and programmatic development in collaboration with the board. The leadership represents the museum to politicians, donors, and the public.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all business areas (exhibition, archive & collection, library, press & public relations, education & outreach, administration, volunteering, and association affairs)
- Lead administration and operations, focusing on either press & public relations or education & outreach
- Oversee financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, fundraising, and exploring additional revenue sources
- Collaborate with the board on strategic development
- Handle personnel management and policy
- Coordinate volunteer and member support
- Optimize processes, ensure quality, and implement strategies for gender equality, empowerment, diversity, barrier reduction, and sustainability
- Represent the Schwules Museum publicly
Qualifications:
- Business administration training and several years of senior management experience in a profit or non-profit organization (cultural or educational institution, NGO, or other economic or social enterprises)
- Strong knowledge in economic and budget planning, financial reporting, and experience with public and private funding
- Familiarity with cultural institutions and their operations
- Willingness to engage with queer, feminist, postcolonial, and critical power practices
- Excellent communication and networking skills in politics, culture, art, and activism
- Strategic, effective, solution- and participation-oriented working style

The application deadline is July 31, 2024. Selection interviews will start in mid-August, and the position will be filled as soon as possible.
