The Clark Art Institute seeks an Early-Career Research and Program Assistant to join its Research and Academic Program (RAP). This position is tailored for individuals preparing to pursue a PhD in art history or a related field. The role offers immersive experience in nonprofit arts administration and the opportunity to collaborate with international scholars, artists, and critics. The successful candidate will actively contribute to lectures, seminars, publications, and other RAP activities in support of advancing the field of art history.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate lectures, seminars, and programs, including collaboration with catering, security, and other departments.
- Maintain and update the RAP website with program and event information.
- Disseminate RAP materials via e-blasts, newsletters, and social media, and communicate events to local communities and fellows.
- Assist in editing and finalizing RAP publications such as newsletters, podcast transcripts, and guides.
- Provide administrative support for the RAP podcast and contribute to its social media presence.
- Engage with scholars by hosting and participating in events, social dinners, and seminars.
- Support onboarding of RAP fellows, including organizing tours and orientation events.
- Assist in preparing grant applications and other administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Training
- Master’s degree in art history or a related discipline required.
- Interest in engaging with art history research and practice.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with experience managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with online tools and databases or a willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Work Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to stand for up to four hours and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
