
Editorial Coordinator

Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean is seeking an Editorial Coordinator for its Communication and Engagement department.
Opened in 2006 and housed in a building designed by renowned architect Ieoh Ming Pei, Mudam is Luxembourg’s contemporary art museum. Our mission is to collect, preserve and present the most relevant contemporary art of our time and make it accessible to a wide audience. We aim to be a key player in promoting and understanding contemporary art through our exhibitions, publications, and artistic and educational programmes. Our museum has always been a place of artistic creation and collaboration with artists.
Located in Europe at the heart of a cosmopolitan country with 179 nationalities, we strive to engage all communities and promote access to contemporary art. Under the supervision of the deputy manager of the department, the Editorial Coordinator oversees the design and production of all external and internal communication materials for Mudam (programmes, exhibition guides, brochures, exhibition signage, activity reports, advertisements, etc.), ensuring adherence to the programming schedule and the museum’s main communication strategies. Acting as the production control hub and guaranteeing a strong and coherent editorial line, they centralise all content creation requests and manage briefings for both internal and external stakeholders.
Your mission:
General coordination
- Supervises the creation and monitoring of the production timeline for the Communication & Engagement department, aligning it with the museum’s calendar and available resources, in collaboration with other departmental experts (publishing, press, graphic design, website and social media).
- Develops and ensures production workflows from editorial coordination to proofreading and fact-checking for all internal and external content, proposing adjustments when necessary to improve efficiency.
- Manages and develops Mudam’s network of external service providers (translators, proofreaders, editors) in the three production languages (French, German, English).
- Proposes and manages the annual budget allocations related to communication material production.
Production management of communication materials
- Collects, analyses and assesses communication support requests based on several criteria: deadlines, editorial needs, contracts, budget and internal/external resources.
- Develops specific schedules and budgets for each production and oversees their execution and coordination.
- Acts as a liaison with external partners (artists, galleries, institutional partners, sponsors, etc.), submitting drafts for approval according to agreed terms.
- Ensures the quality control of work delivered by service providers.
- Secures permissions and reproduction rights for images used in communication materials and merchandise.
- Ensures the legal deposit of all communication materials.
Editorial responsibilities
- Develops and oversees editorial content and guidelines with the support of internal and external collaborators.
- Assesses the editorial quality of texts through critical review.
- Evaluates the quality and consistency of translations.
- Makes content corrections (spelling, typography, syntax, meaning, phrasing, style).
- Conducts proofreading and verifies corrections.
- Reviews drafts of all communication materials for editorial and graphic accuracy at each validation stage, up to the final print approval.
- In a continuous improvement effort, regularly performs editorial audits and provides recommendations, particularly in collaboration with the museum’s publishing officer.
Your profile
- University degree in publishing, literature or applied foreign languages
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position, ideally in a museum or cultural institution
- Perfect control of the editorial production chain and the management of editorial projects
- Proven budget management skills
- Excellent writing skills in French and English. German language will be considered an asset
- Organization and rigour with particular attention to detail, you are recognised for your excellent command of syntax and impeccable spelling
- Perfect knowledge of intellectual property law
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proven ability to manage time and priorities, as well as stress
- Developed team spirit
- Proficiency in office tools (Adobe Indesign, Word, Excel, etc.)
