About the Role
The National Gallery of Ireland (NGI) seeks an Education Manager: Special Projects to oversee and innovate special projects within the Education Department. This role focuses on designing and delivering impactful learning programs, fostering community outreach, and addressing barriers to art engagement.
Reporting to the Head of Education & Public Programming, the Education Manager will collaborate across departments, shaping strategies for equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI), health, and well-being, alongside focused initiatives for schools and community groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Special Projects: Lead research, development, administration, delivery, and evaluation of special projects aligned with NGI’s strategy.
- Design Inclusive Programming: Develop initiatives inspired by NGI’s collections, exhibitions, and digital platforms for diverse audiences.
- Supervise Teams: Line-manage assigned staff, mentor fellows, and oversee freelance professionals.
- Strategic Development: Contribute to forward-looking departmental strategies, prioritizing EDI and socially conscious practices.
- Financial Management: Draft budgets, ensure compliance with financial protocols, and support grant and funding applications.
- Communications: Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote special projects effectively.
- Build Partnerships: Develop and maintain relationships with local and international stakeholders to enhance educational offerings.
- Reporting and Compliance: Document progress, evaluate outcomes, and ensure adherence to organizational policies.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience relevant to the role.
- Experience:
- Proven background in community engagement within cultural or educational sectors.
- Knowledge of health, well-being, and EDI principles in museum education.
- Demonstrated project management and financial planning skills.
- Prior experience in people management or mentoring.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and teamwork capabilities.

Salary and Benefits
- Starting Salary: €38,083 annually (progressive scale up to €77,284 based on tenure and performance).
- Annual Leave: 25 days (pro rata).
