Education Programs Coordinator

The Education Programs Coordinator is a highly flexible administrative position, and will work in tandem with the Curator of Education to ensure all classes, camps, outreaches and other educational programs run smoothly and effectively. This position seeks a creative, highly organized individual who has experience both inside and outside an arts classroom.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage proper documentation and data on all programs.
  • Aid in supervision and instruction of programs including programs that occur on weekends.
  • Maintain a proper level of customer service with all public interactions
  • Support the development of a volunteer and internship program within the museum.
  • Create accurate supply orders using MOCA Educator supplies curriculum.
  • Help prep for workshops, outreaches, and other programs.
  • Prep training sessions for curatorial information concerning the works on display and the exhibition concepts defined by the artists as well as content training with Curator of Education.
  • Be well informed on other MOCA programs and actively communicate opportunities at MOCA with guests.
  • Conduct open tours and scheduled tours as needed.
  • Teach outreach education and off-site workshops.
  • Assist at any museum events as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a college degree. Preferably a Bachelors in Education, Art, Art History or a related discipline.
  • Must have 2 years of experience in the Visual Arts field.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Be able to work collaboratively and inclusively with all constituent groups of students, teachers, museum staff and visitors.

Reports to: Curator of Education
Functional relationships: Within the museum, works with all staff, interns and volunteers, especially the Studio Assistant, Teaching Artists, Grant Management, and Visitor Services Manager.
External relationships: The Education Programs Coordinator maintains relationships with community partner sites, especially related to the recruitment of interns and volunteers.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree Required. Background check required. For special events, must be able to remain standing for several hours at a time. Position may require occasional lifting of 25 pounds or less.
Highly desirable: Bilingual in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole. Knowledge of Altru. Knowledge of Miami-Dade County grant process.

This is a full-time, salaried position requiring some evening and weekend hours.
