Introduction to the Program
The Emerging Curator Program seeks curatorial talent in Los Angeles. It allows new curators to work alongside LACE. In its tenth edition, the program will select one project for a 2025 presentation.
Program Details
The focus is on performance-based curatorial proposals. These proposals can form a single event or a series of programs. Projects should fit within a gallery or theater setting, spanning up to four days. The chosen curator or team will plan the format and schedule with LACE.
Submission Criteria
- Eligibility: Individuals or teams based in the Los Angeles area.
- Method: Only online applications are accepted.
- Restrictions: One proposal per applicant, without a submission fee.
- Content: Proposals should align with LACE’s experimental project tradition. Visual aids like PDFs or videos (up to 5 minutes) can support the proposal, with a 300-word limit for descriptions.
- Additional Materials: The panel may ask for more information later.
Project Development
The selected curator(s) will receive a $6,000 budget for the project, covering curator and artist fees. LACE offers venue space, project consultation, presentation support, and marketing efforts.
Application Process
The application portal will open on March 19, 2024, via Submittable, with a deadline of April 19, 2024. For inquiries, reach out to submissions@welcometolace.org.
