Overview:
Spike Island and Hauser & Wirth are inviting independent curators and art practitioners based in South West England to apply for a year-long Engagement Fellowship. This opportunity involves developing and delivering an inclusive program of events that explore themes such as community connections, sustainability, and cultural ecologies.
Fellows will receive mentorship, a £10,000 fee, a £6,500 project budget, and access to Spike Island’s resources, including desk space and the Residency Studio. Events will target community groups, young people, and children, and outcomes may include workshops, tours, and talks hosted at Spike Island, Hauser & Wirth Somerset, or other relevant venues.
Eligibility:
- Open to South West England-based curators, art workers, and creative practitioners with public engagement experience.
- Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of contemporary art and audience development practices.
- Undergraduate students are not eligible.
Support Includes:
- Mentorship and training from Spike Island and Hauser & Wirth programming teams.
- Access to Spike Island Associates’ networking and development opportunities.
- Administrative and curatorial support for project delivery.
