Zeitz MOCAA is seeking an Events Coordinator to support tours, public programmes and private events at the museum. Reporting to the Event Manager within the Institutional Advancement Department, the postholder will coordinate bookings, suppliers and schedules, and help deliver events from planning through to on-site operations.
Zeitz MOCAA exhibits, collects and researches contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. Alongside its exhibitions, the museum offers educational programmes and a project space for emerging Cape Town-based artists.
Responsibilities
The Events Coordinator will administer private and public tours, preparing quotations and booking forms, tracking payments, scheduling tours and keeping the relevant museum teams informed. They will also help develop new tour offerings and private tour packages.
For events, the postholder will respond to enquiries, maintain the master calendar, follow up on supplier invoices and liaise with vendors and stakeholders. They will assist the Curatorial Department with exhibition-related programming, both on site and online. During events, they will oversee setup and close-down, respond to issues and check that arrangements meet the agreed requirements.
Candidate profile
Applicants must have at least three years of experience organising and coordinating tours, events or functions. Zeitz MOCAA seeks strong planning, administration and communication skills, an understanding of budgets, and the ability to manage several projects and relationships at once.
A diploma or bachelor’s degree in event management, marketing or a related field is preferred. Customer service experience is beneficial. Applicants should be confident using Microsoft Office and willing to work evenings and weekends when required.
