Job Title: Executive Director
Location: Newcastle City Centre
Salary: £30K
Hours: Full-time (4-day week)
Contract: Fixed-term for 1 year, with a possible extension

Role Description:
Newcastle Contemporary Art is seeking an Executive Director. This role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic visual arts organization into its next growth phase. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in arts funding, and a passion for community building.
Flexible Working:
The role offers a 4-day workweek, providing a 3-day weekend.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resource and Partnership Development: Build assets and manage communications with key funders. Promote Newcastle Contemporary Art’s work and develop partnerships.
- Organisational Development: Implement and oversee policies, ensure staff training, and manage the Gallery Manager. Act as the Safeguarding Officer.
- Strategy Development: Develop strategies aligned with regional cultural and economic plans. Oversee programme and artistic development, focusing on high-quality engagement, especially with disadvantaged youth.
- Financial Management: Oversee finances, manage budgets, and present accounts to the board.
- Governance: Report to the Board of Trustees, set meeting agendas, and recruit new board members.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in fundraising and partnership development.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation.
- Experience in cultural education or the educational sector.
- Budget management and financial reporting skills.
- Understanding of cultural policy and creative project management.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Leadership experience in a similar organization.
- Experience working with young people and in governance.
- Marketing and PR experience.
- Personnel management and recruitment experience.
