Job Description
The One Institute is excited to offer the Getty Marrow Exhibition and Programming Internship for 2024. The intern will play a pivotal role in the upcoming Circa: Queer Histories Festival, focusing on its hallmark exhibition sourced from the ONE Archives at the USC Libraries. The role extends to supporting Pride month’s public programming, under the guidance of the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Circa exhibition curator and the institute’s management team.
The internship offers a hybrid work environment, combining on-site meetings and public events with remote project tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in researching and producing the Circa exhibition, collaborating with the Public Programs Manager, curators, and marketing team.
- Aid in developing and executing diverse programming formats, including workshops and lectures.
- Contribute to the creation of audio stories, website content, and in-person installations for the exhibition.
- Support content organization using Airtable, and help manage social media content aligned with One Institute’s guidelines.
- Engage in archival research at ONE Archives, adhering to its policies and procedures.
- Provide support for various content, education, and fundraising initiatives.
- Handle administrative tasks related to exhibitions and public programs, including data collection and reporting.
- Occasionally assist with gallery maintenance and event operations.
- Participate in staff meetings and activities, both on-site and remotely.
Schedule and Compensation
The internship spans a full-time schedule, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, with occasional weekend and evening work. It offers a stipend of $6,925 for a ten-week period, translating to $17.31/hour.
Qualifications
- A passion for LGBTQ+ history and contemporary issues.
- Experience in event planning and digital media production.
- Proficiency in social media platforms.
- Research skills, particularly with primary sources.
- Background in media, digital humanities, design, art history, or sound studies is beneficial.
- Artistic experience and customer service skills are desirable.
Eligibility
Candidates must belong to underrepresented groups in art conservation or visual arts, be current full-time undergraduates, and reside or attend college in LA County. They must also be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Eligibility extends to DACA recipients.
