Role Overview
DEO Projects, a non-profit organization for contemporary art in Chios, is seeking an Exhibition Coordinator to oversee the successful production and management of visual art exhibitions and artist residencies. This role involves collaboration with artists, curators, galleries, and other stakeholders, as well as contributing to fundraising efforts and institutional grant applications. The coordinator will work closely with the Director and the Parallel Programs Manager to implement DEO’s artistic vision and strengthen its mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main contact for artists, galleries, transport companies, and stakeholders throughout the exhibition planning and execution process.
- Assist curators with research and curatorial duties for exhibitions.
- Lead exhibition installations and de-installations, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
- Manage logistics for exhibitions and residencies, including artist travel, accommodation, artwork transport, and customs clearance.
- Collaborate on new art commissions and loans, ensuring proper documentation, insurance, and budget compliance.
- Maintain detailed digital and physical archives of projects to support institutional memory.
- Assist in drafting exhibition texts and related materials.
- Handle exhibition and residency budgets, ensuring compliance with financial protocols.
- Prepare and manage grant applications and related documents for cultural organizations, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
- Cultivate relationships with donors, research new funding opportunities, and develop strategies for fundraising.
- Organize donor and supporter events locally and internationally.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in art history, museology, arts management, or a related field, OR more than 5 years of experience in the arts.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in exhibition coordination or similar roles in contemporary art or cultural organizations.
- Familiarity with art logistics, including customs clearance, shipping, and insurance.
- Proven experience in grant writing and fundraising.
- Experience supporting curatorial functions, including research and preparing exhibition texts.
- Strong financial planning skills, including budget management and expense tracking.
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Fluency in Greek and English (additional languages are a plus).
