This online course provides the conceptual and technical tools necessary to translate a curatorial idea into an exhibition design within a physical space. Week-by-week, participants will learn the different aspects involved in each phase of creating and producing an exhibition scenography.

By studying the elements that make up an exhibition; from the creation of the exhibition path, to the definition of light, color, texture or sound, this course will cover the necessary skills to create exhibitions that establish a deep connection between visitor and content. Through the presentation of several case studies, participants will receive a full set of references and inspiration from which they will be able to draw in the future.

Participants will also have the opportunity (not mandatory) to develop their own exhibition design project in parallel to the weekly lessons, through easy to use and understand methods such as hand drawing or 3D paper models.

Participation in the course does not require prior knowledge of architecture or technical drawing.

Tiziano Schürch is a Swiss architect and researcher who graduated from ETH Zurich. Since 2018, he is assistant professor at UPC-ETSAB (Barcelona) where he initiated the architecture research studio “extraordinary_ordinary”. As an architect, he designed several exhibitions including the Catalan Pavilion at the Venice Art Biennale (selected by Premios FAD in 2020), “Inhabiting the Mediterranean” at the IVAM Valencia, “Picasso and the Artist’s Jewellery” and “Picasso, the Photographer’s Gaze” at the Museo Picasso of Barcelona. In 2019 he co-founded the architecture practice studioser, specialised in exhibition and small-scale urban planning projects.
